 "The First King, Oswald’s United Kingdom, is a Children’s Fairytale based on fact about Oswald The Celtic Overlord King of England. It is based on historical fact. A true story of how a young princes’s dream came true to reclaim his father’s kingdom and bring peace to Old Northumbria.

It is written in a verbal storytelling form as shall the second and third book of Kings. The purpose of the book is to reintroduce the old form of storytelling to a modern audience but in the old traditional way whereby the audience was all mixed ages, and all pictoral images were drawn in a child like way. The text was not edited to suit a certain category of age (3-5 years, 5-8 years, 8-11 years, 11-15 years) or to suit a particular older audience. It was the way in which the storyteller told the story that counted.

None of the vehicles available to a modern day storyteller are available to the writer in this instance such as intonation, non-verbal communication between him and his audience which will tell him if he is pitching it right so that he can moderate his performance, body language, facial expressions. Here there is only the written language and illustration to draw the listener into the book.

I could have written the book for a more modern reader, however it was felt that its smooth storytelling feel, as it would have been told in times of old, was its strongest selling point and what makes the product a unique story book ."
